Physical Properties

  • Specific Gravity: 2.5-2.6
  • Appearance: Clear with a slight green tint
  • Hardness (Mohs Scale): 5.5
  • Crush Resistance: 28-35K

Recommended Treatment

  • Torque/Drag: 5-15 ppb while drilling a straight hole and 10-20 ppb while drilling a horizontal hole.
  • Sliding Pills: 5-15 ppb by volume can be added directly to the suction pit or sent in sliding pills to increase ROP.

Wellbore Stability Benefits

  • Reduces friction and torque & drag.

  • Promotes “ball bearing” effect.

  • When spotted as a pill, enhances tripping, logging and casing runs.

  • Increases ROP.

  • Effective in highly deviated wells.
