Turbo-Lube XLT Well Recap pt2

PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED:

THE OPERATOR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH WATER FLOW WHILE RUNNING OIL BASE MUD @ 11,800’. IT WAS DECIDED TO SWITCH TO A WEIGHTED POLYMER MUD. THE OPERATOR NEEDED TO DRILL A 2 MILE LATERAL SECTION AND WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH TORQUE (17,000).

PRIOR APPLICATON:

THE OPERATOR ATTEMPTED, UNSUCCESSFULLY, TO SOLVE THE TORQUING ISSUES WITH A “COST EFFECTIVE” LUBRICANT SUPPLIED BY THE COMPETITOR (UP TO 11 % WAS ADDED TO THE MUD).

PRODUCT APPLICATON:

TURBO-CHEM RECCOMENDED AND BLENDED TURBO-LUBE XLT AT 2% TO THE ACTIVE MUD SYSTEM. THE TORQUE IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO 11,000 AFTER EXITING THE BIT. AFTER ANOTHER 2% OF TURBO-LUBE XLT WAS ADDED THE TORQUE DROPPED AGAIN TO 9,000.

RESULTS:

THE OPERATOR ADDED A TOTAL OF 6% TURBO-LUBE XLT AS A SYSTEM TREATMENT AND WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN A TORQUE OF BELOW 5,000 UNTIL TD (19,385’). TURBO-CHEM’S TURBO-LUBE XLT ADDITIONS ALLOWED THE OPERATOR TO RUN A 2800 BBL WEIGHTED POLYMER MUD SYSTEM WHILE DRILLING 1,000’ MORE THAN THE SURROUNDING WELLS IN THIS AREA HAD EVER BEEN DRILLED BEFORE (HAVING TO USE OBM). NEITHER THE OPERATOR NOR THE MUD COMPANY HAD EVER DRILLED PAST 18,500’ WITH A WATER BASE MUD, DUE TO TORQUE ISSUES AND HOLE PROBLEMS USING THE “COST EFFECTIVE LUBRICANT”. TURBO-LUBE XLT SURPASSED ALL EXPECTATIONS.
