Bore-Seal 100 Well Recap

PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED:

WHILE SLIDING AHEAD AT 7,680’ THE DECISION WAS MADE TO POOH DUE TO UNSATISFACTORY BHA PERFORMANCE. THE OPERATOR SAW A SUDDEN 20-30 BBL LOSS OF MUD @ 7,670’.

PRIOR APPLICATON:

THE OPERATOR WAS ABLE TO DRILL SUCCESSFULLY THROUGH THE WILCOX AND AUSTIN CHALK BY PUMPING 10-20 PPB BORE-SEAL 100 & FIRST RESPONSE SWEEPS EVERY 300’.

PRODUCT APPLICATON:

TCI ENGINEER MIXED AND SPOTTED A 40 BBL PILL CONTAINING 20 PPB FIRST RESPONSE, 10 PPB BORE-SEAL 100 PRIOR TO PUMPING A SLUG. WASHED AND REAMED TO BOTTOM WITH NO LOSSES. AT 7,710’. THE DRILLER INCREASED THE PUMPS FROM 0-60 SPM AND TOTAL LOSSES WERE SEEN. TCI ENGINEER PUMPED TWO, 40 BBL SWEEPS CONTAINING 20 PPB FIRST RESPONSE, 10 PPB BORE-SEAL 100. THE LOSSES DECREASED IMMEDIATELY TO 20- 30 BPH.

RESULTS:

DECISION WAS MADE TO CEMENT FOR KICK OFF POINT. AFTER DRILLING THROUGH CEMENT (7,935’) LOSSES INCREASED FROM 5-10 BBLS. /HR. TO 20-30 BBLS./HR. TCI ENGINEER MIXED AND PUMPED A PILL CONTAINING 25 PPB FIRST RESPONSE, 10 PPB BORE- SEAL 100 @ 8,128’. LOSSES STOPPED IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE PILL STARTED TO EXIT THE BIT. THE OPERATOR WAS ABLE TO DRILL AHEAD TO 11,145’ (TD) WITH NO FURTHER LOSSES , PUMPING SWEEPS CONTAINING 5 PPB FIRST RESPONSE AND 10 PPB BORE-SEAL 100.
